With so many on offer these days, it is great to have a name you can trust. This item is certainly that and will be a perfect buy. The distributor have added some great touches and this equals great value.

Works, but...
After, the Virginia earthquake, my well water tested at 792 units of coliform bacteria per 100 ml. I installed the Doulton Rio 2000 filter. The water tested at 0 units coliform. Unfortunately, the filter required cleaning very 5 to 8 days to restore water flow. Upstream of the Doulton filter, I had a 2 micron filter. The 2 micron filter did not clog but passed enough sediment, or maybe bacteria, to clog the Doulton filter rapidly. Obviously, it clogged because it was working but it was not a practical solution for whole house water cleaning. I considered putting more filters in parallel with the first, but 5 times nothing is still nothing, so I connected to municipal water which was available. The Doulton filter works, but it may not be practical for all circumstances.

Not enough flow for our house
Our house is totally off-grid so we purchased 2 of these filters because they don't use electricity, installed parallel, for our new house. We also had a 1 micron pre-filter.
These filters are just not designed for much volume. Even right after cleaning, or when the filters were brand new out of the box, the house would be out of water if there was a hose being used in our barn. The fluctuating pressure also caused issues for our propane boiler. Also, the brush that comes with the candles is a joke, did NOT work well to clean them, I ended up using a combo of flat household brush (such as for cleaning a bathroom) and green scrub sponge. Took FOREVER to clean each candle. We switched to a UV unit. Did not want to use the extra electricity by adding this appliance, but the Rio just does not work. Really wish it did, I wanted to love this product.
Not As Pictured Or Described In Item Description
The filter was supposed to come in a blue housing and instead it arrived in clear housing which is not as durable. Also looks like I may need a pressure regulator to keep the water under 70 PSI which was not mentioned in filter description. I did not receive installation directions. Hopefully this filter housing will not crack as I have read bad reviews on clear housing filters. I will update my review once it is installed and working for a while.
