DO NOT USE on Watts Premier WP systems.
This is review of "Dow Filmtec Residential RO Membranes". While it should work as described, DO NOT USE on Watts Premier WP systems (i.e. WP-4V, WP-4, WP-5). The WP systems are the one-piece manifold systems from Watts Premier.
This does not have the built-in Check Valve or Brine Seal inside the white plastic tube of the RO Membrane. Without this Check Valve or Brine Seal, water from the reservoir tank (when full) will back flow to the RO membrane and damage it, and waste water.
This back flow or reverse flow will happen when your reservoir tank gets full. So basically, you will be wasting water as the water trickle will not stop. When I tested it, water continued to trickle out of the reject water outlet tube even when my reservoir tank is full already (it should stop when reserve tank is full). The water coming out is at a much slower rate though, but still plenty enough to raise your water bill since the water trickle will continue 24 hours a day.

Best one for my RO system
I love this RO membrane for my Vertec under the sink system. I have well water and this makes my water taste so much better and also makes the water clear and clean. I never worry about drinking my water with this membrane and I am no longer embarrassed to serve my water to anyone because it is the best water in town and has no taste. Our well water has a lot of lime in the water but this filters it out and leaves only the best water you could find anywhere.
Fantastic Price, High Quality TFC RO Membrane
The prior reviewer did not do his homework to determine the type of RO Membrane his system required. It is obvious from the pictures this Membrane has a different seal configuration than that of the Watts RO Membrane.
This Membrane is a perfect replacement for many RO systems except the Watts Premier and a few others. Just compare your current Membrane to the pictures. Is the large rubber seal in the front or in the rear, and purchase accordingly? I have a 14yr old Ametek Kleen-Plus RO-2127 3-stage system. It has an external Automatic Shut off Valve that shuts off the incoming flow when the pressure in the tank equals the incoming line pressure. So a membrane with an internal check valve is not needed.
There are also 2 different material types for membranes 1)TFC-Thin Film Composite and 2)CTA-Cellulose Triacetate
This Membrane is a Thin Film Composite which has a zero chlorine tolerance, and should be used with a Carbon Block filter prior to the membrane to remove...
