Toss out the plastic wrench
Every time I had to change the filter, I'd cringe, cuss and yell "Why is this stupid thing made of plastic? Why is the handle so short? Curse this company this wrench is useless!" I'd tug and tug, arms and back sore, until the casement would finally loosen, ... then I found this metel one.

Seriously, it's kind of pricy but if you're sick of struggling with the plastic wrench, splurge, this wrench will make the task of changing the filter a hundred, no, a million times easier.

Metal Wrench AP8
The metal wrench AP8 is a very good replacement. The extra long handle gives you more leverage to loosen the cartridge housing when changing the filter.

Anyone who has ever swam in a chlorinated pool knows how chlorine robs moisture from your skin and hair. What most people don't realize is that typically there is as much or more chlorine in tap water as there is in most swimming pools.  Chlorine strips the natural protective oils from skin and hair, causing excess dryness. Without the harsh influences of chlorine you'll notice significant cosmetic benefits... Softer skin & hair in a week or your money back!  Also by removing chlorine and other chemicals found in tap water, you eliminate health risks related to inhalation and skin absorption of these chemicals... now known to be a significant source of exposure to harmful VOCs & THMs. Your shower water will feel better, and be better for you! The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates how a small amount of chlorine is added or some other disinfection method is used to kill bacteria or microorganisms that may be in tap water.  Excess exposure to chlorine can also be detrimental to your health. Chlorine steals moisture from skin and hair, causing excess dryness. Other health conditions caused by chlorine include respiratory condition such as asthma and bronchitis

Introducing the 'Ultimate' in Air Cleaning from Winix, the WAC9500 Large Room Ultimate Pet Air Cleaner is the highest featured model we have ever made. Designed to meet the rigorous standards of pet owners, we have loaded the air cleaner with technologies not typically found on an air cleaner in this category. This air cleaner would be a great model for any household regardless of pets

Suitable for a living room or large bedroom the Winix WAC9500 Ultimate Pet Air Cleaner with PlasmaWave features a 5-Stage cleaning process to capture pet odors, hair and all of the unseen particles suspended in the air to provide deliver a clean, fresh environment. 99.99% efficient True-HEPA Filtration; Advanced Odor Control Washable Activated Carbon filter; Nano Silver treatment; PlasmaWave Technology and Smart Sensor Technology combine to offer superior control of Household/Pet Odors, Pollutants and Allergens. Certified Clean Air Delivery Rate of 284 sq. ft.

Key Features

5-Stage Air Cleaning

1) Washable Anti-Bacterial Pre-Filter 2) 99.99% effective True HEPA 3) Nano Silver Anti-Microbial Treatment 4) Washable AOC (Advanced Odor Control) Carbon 5) PlasmaWave Technology

Advanced Odor Control

Washable Advanced Odor Control Carbon Filter (AOC) absorbs and neutralizes offensive pet and household odors. Made from natural coconut shell; this enhanced carbon filter is 3 times more effective at removing ammonia and other offensive odors than a standard disposable carbon filter

99.99% True-HEPA Filtration

True-HEPA Filter removes 99.99% of all airborne pollutants as small as 0.3 microns from the air passing through the filter. HEPA filters trap pet dander, smoke, soot, micro-dust, mold spores, pollen and most airborne microbials-most of which you cannot even see. HEPA which stands for High Efficiency Particulate Arresting filter is recognized as the most effective method of filtering air of contaminants and irritants. It is commonly used where a very clean environment is needed, such as aerospace, medical and high-tech manufacturing applications.

PlasmaWave Technology

Winix's own PlasmaWaveTM works differently than many of the other air cleaning technologies. Other Ionizer type air cleaners produce ions to attach to pollutants so they fall to the floor or stick to walls and furniture and then need to get vacuumed. PlasmaWave however doesn't merely weigh down the particles - it breaks apart odor, allergens, chemical vapors and other pollutants at the molecular level without producing any harmful ozone.

Smart Sensors

3 Smart Sensors monitor the presence of particles and odor causing chemical vapors, and adjust settings automatically for optimal performance delivering true Set-and-Forget convenience. A Light Sensor automatically adjusts the air cleaner for "quiet" and "energy efficient" operation for when you are asleep or away from home.

Washable Pre-Filter

Traps the hair, fur, dust and lint that builds up on floors and carpets, making housekeeping easier and extending the life of the HEPA filter.

Remote Control

Programmable Remote Control allows adjustments from anywhere in the room.

4 Fan Speeds

From Quiet mode for whisper low and energy efficient cleaning to Turbo for ultimate performance.

Sleep Mode

Lower fan speed and dim display lights for quite night time operation

Energy Star Qualified

All of Winix's air cleaner models proudly bear the ENERGY STAR label to ensure ultra-low operating costs and energy usage.

KDF/GAC Water Filter Cartridge For Undercounter Units - Removes Chlorine Lead Heavy Metals Lasts 12,000 Gallons! Big SALE

KDF Media can remove up to 99% of water-soluble lead, mercury, nickel, chromium, and other dissolved metals.
First stage filtration is when the water enters the cartridge, it is passed through a 1 micron prefilter that removes suspended particles, such as silt, sediment, sand, rust, dirt,. In the second next stage, the water passes through a bed of a media made of a special high-purity alloy blend of two dissimilar metals - copper and zinc KDF55 This media, is a major advancement in water treatment technology that works on the electro-chemical and spontaneous-oxidation-reduction (redox) principles. Chlorine is instantaneously and almost inexhaustibly oxidized. Tests on this cartridge have shown 99+% chlorine removal past 15,000 gallons of water while a carbon cartridge of comparable volume drops below 90% effectiveness after only 4,000 gallons. Iron and hydrogen sulfide are oxidized into insolubable matter and attach to the surface of the media. Heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, and aluminum are removed from the water by the electrochemical process. They are attracted to the surface of the media, much like a magnet. The media inhibits bacteria growth throughout the entire unit (in fact, has been shown to reduce it up to 90%!), eliminating the need for silver, commonly used in carbon-only filters.

Third stage granulated activated carbon (GAC) is universally recognized and widely used as an effective adsorbent for a wide variety of organic contaminants, such as herbicides, pesticides, industrial chemicals, and trihalomethanes (THM's). Carbon-only filters must also use their capacity for chlorine removal, resulting in a shortened life. We use a high-grade coconut shell carbon that is most effective at removing chemicals. As a result, it is more effective than other carbon types in removing trihalomethanes (THMs) and other chemicals from municipally supplied water.
Sediment prefilter required for areas that have high sediment.
Not for whole house use.

Copper?
This is a question, not a review. Since the 2nd stage of this filter uses copper to react with and remove other heavy metals...how much COPPER does it leave in the drinking water? The Romans originally used nice easy-to-work copper for their plumbing, but learned to substitute lead pipes for it, because the lead poisoning was much slower than the copper poisoning.

Wonderful filtration combo
I originally purchased a big berkey with black carbon filters which ultimately broke apart at the base (cheap poxy). After looking i cautiously bought this combo about 4 months ago. I have not been disappointed. It filters wonderfully and is of better quality than the black carbon filters (in my experience).

I like these better than the black
These seam to filter great and the build quality is better than the old vs black filters. I had the old vs of the black filters fail at the base on two sets.
The perfect solution to water prep concerns
This is an awesome filter system.
The ceramic filters are superior to other filters in that they will last for many years.unlike the OTHERS that will only last months.

Watts Premier 20 Micron Big Blue Water Filter
I finally found an excellent water replacement filter cartridge that lasts and provides good flow. We've a lot a clay where sediment we live and the other filters clog way too easy. The pleated paper ones work best, but the 20 micron rating has held up the best for me. I had 8 people in the house for a total of 4 weeks over the holidays, and I'm on the same filter for 2 months and it's still going strong. So far, I'm a happy customer.

Product Features :

• Effectively reduces sand, silt, sediment, rust and dirt
• Pleated filter manufactured using durable polyester for exceptional strength and filter durability
• 50 micron sediment filter
• Large capacity filter suitable for high flow applications

Beware this filter is not compatible with Watts units!
When I bought this last May before the product description was ##### (deleted) it stated this filter was compatible with standard RO systems. I did a lot of research before ordering this. Nowhere in the product description does it say you can't use this on the Watts WP-5 system. As I didn't have the old membrane out of the unit when I ordered this, how was I to see the seal is on the wrong end. As soon as I pulled the old membrane out and had the two side by side I saw the difference. I wrote to Abundant Flow Water and received the below reply. As the Watts OEM unit is available from Amazon for $34 I'll let the readers make the decision about Abundant Flow Water's reply... I'm sticking with the Watts OEM membrane from now on.

REPLY >>>"Those are different. That is one of Watts weird units, they make a couple that are a lot different than the industry standard. We do not stock that particular membrane. We can order it in, the cost on those are $69.50

Need more information
I purchased this membrane based on comments from other reviewer saying that this membrane is OK to use with Watts Premier RO by moving the black o-ring to the other end. When I got the membrane I found that the o-ring is taped and cannot be easily moved. I called the seller (H2OFilters) and was informed that this membrane is not compatible with Watts Premier RO. The seller was nice enough to do a full refund. The correct membrane for Watts Premier RO is:

Note, both large and small o-rings must be on the same end.

Otherwise, the price is great with free shipping and great service from the seller (H2OFilters):

Wish I had known sooner about Watts incompatibility.
I just spent the better part of the last two days trying to figure out why my RO system (Watts WP-4V from Costco) was draining all the water out of the storage tank after I had shut off the water supply to it (this was in response to the tank not filling after 12 hours of constant running.) I did the online searches and followed all the FAQs and surely thought that my auto shutoff valve had a leak allowing the purified water to drain into the sink. I was ready to buy a replacement ASV (even though the old one looked ok) and a pressure gauge to check my supply pressure, etc., then I remembered I had a spare Watts membrane and thought it was worth a shot. Guess what? It worked! The storage tank was no longer emptying on its own (I put it on a scale and the weight didn't change over several minutes).

So what was the cause? I had bought a Filmtec membrane thinking I could save a few bucks over the Watts version. Dimensionally they are identical, except the Filmtec has an...

DO NOT USE on Watts Premier WP systems.
This is review of "Dow Filmtec Residential RO Membranes". While it should work as described, DO NOT USE on Watts Premier WP systems (i.e. WP-4V, WP-4, WP-5). The WP systems are the one-piece manifold systems from Watts Premier.

This does not have the built-in Check Valve or Brine Seal inside the white plastic tube of the RO Membrane. Without this Check Valve or Brine Seal, water from the reservoir tank (when full) will back flow to the RO membrane and damage it, and waste water.

This back flow or reverse flow will happen when your reservoir tank gets full. So basically, you will be wasting water as the water trickle will not stop. When I tested it, water continued to trickle out of the reject water outlet tube even when my reservoir tank is full already (it should stop when reserve tank is full). The water coming out is at a much slower rate though, but still plenty enough to raise your water bill since the water trickle will continue 24 hours a day.

Best one for my RO system
I love this RO membrane for my Vertec under the sink system. I have well water and this makes my water taste so much better and also makes the water clear and clean. I never worry about drinking my water with this membrane and I am no longer embarrassed to serve my water to anyone because it is the best water in town and has no taste. Our well water has a lot of lime in the water but this filters it out and leaves only the best water you could find anywhere.
Fantastic Price, High Quality TFC RO Membrane
The prior reviewer did not do his homework to determine the type of RO Membrane his system required. It is obvious from the pictures this Membrane has a different seal configuration than that of the Watts RO Membrane.
This Membrane is a perfect replacement for many RO systems except the Watts Premier and a few others. Just compare your current Membrane to the pictures. Is the large rubber seal in the front or in the rear, and purchase accordingly? I have a 14yr old Ametek Kleen-Plus RO-2127 3-stage system. It has an external Automatic Shut off Valve that shuts off the incoming flow when the pressure in the tank equals the incoming line pressure. So a membrane with an internal check valve is not needed.

There are also 2 different material types for membranes 1)TFC-Thin Film Composite and 2)CTA-Cellulose Triacetate
This Membrane is a Thin Film Composite which has a zero chlorine tolerance, and should be used with a Carbon Block filter prior to the membrane to remove...

water filter replacement cartridge
Note that your picture shows a Flow-Pur #5 water filter ... the filter that arrived appears to be generic and does now have the Flow=Pur label at all....appearing to be a generic filter.

The price on the receipt I received showed a price of $18.28 each for a total of $36.56 ... and I was charged $26.46 for each of the other two for a total of $52.92. This is a differece of $16.36 that should be credited to my account..

I order from Amazon regularly and I have had good service on other items; I hope this can be resolved so I can be a happy Amazon return customer again.

Everpure EV9618-02 OCS 2 Filter Cartridge
The product was very easy to order. However, due to unforseen issues the cartridge was not needed. It was never opened. Called for a return and was then informed that there was a 15% restocking fee and the cost for shipping back would also be applied. The product still was no longer needed. I believe the shipping charges were justified but 15% on an unopened product. That was a bit more than resonable. What did it cost them to put it back on the shelf. They actually made money on the return. Sorry to say but they have you over a barrel when you do not need a product and they charge unreasonable "restocking fees". Makes you want to deal with the big box stores that do not charge for this service.

The new E-Series was designed for our customers that are already using existing permanent heads but would like an alternative to the replacement bodies currently offered.

not as good as Everpure
According to specifications I read this filter was supposed to be the same as the Everpure H-104 with regard to filter capacity. It's about half the size, costs half as much, but lasts less than half as long as the Everpure in my use. I tried to save some money, but in the end I didn't really. I only tried this product once, then went back to the Everpure.

Now the Omnipure filter fit and worked as far as filtering the water and taste improvement. The flow slowed significantly toward the end of the filter use, where the Everpure doesn't. I just don't consider it a good deal compared to the original Everpure filter.

The only down side on this product is that it doesn't come with a tds meter. Its not that big of a deal because you can order it for like $13, but it would have been convenient. A work of industrial art and built to last
The interior of the stainless steel top looks like a polished piston head rendered in gleaming solid stainless steel.

I'm somewhat astonished they can sell this product, made of these materials and made in the USA, at this price. Simply outstanding.

It's more expensive than the polypropylene plastic cheapies, but this will last forever and will likely outlast one's house. Plastic units can leak/crack pretty easily if over-torqued, and they have plastic threads, as well. Plastic threads suck.

If you're trying to reduce the amount of plastic chemicals you drink, this is one of the only tickets, as well. It's more durable, withstands higher temperatures, and is most likely healthier.

Note that this is not a massive filter housing; we typically use units 2-3x taller and 2x the diameter for whole-house applications, especially ones that pull off a well. For municipal water, this filter size should be fine. Aqua-Pure makes a unit that's 2x...

Watts RO filter kit-Handy and saves time and $$
One years worth of filters in one box. Includes everything but the membrane. I looked all over the net for the best deal- and this is it! What made it the best was decent price and FREE SHIPPING from Amazon. Guys on eBay wanted up to $23 for shipping this same kit. Watts can't even match this deal on their website. I am in in SoCal and received this item in 1 day shipped from Amazon's Reno facility. Amazing.

Filters have misleading information
These filters are a good price and all but no instructions came with them and it says they come with the tool needed to access the filter chambers. No tool came and now I am forced to shop for one and cannot find one. The information about what I am getting needs to be accurate.
Filter change instructions
I installed the filter system several months ago an I REALLY like it. However, the light has been flashing red and it is time to change the filters. Problem is, if I still have any original instructions, they are misplaced now, and the filter package has no instructions. I figured I had to turn off the supply water and relieve the pressure by pressing on the air valve pin as you would a tire valve. I was able to unscrew the filter housings by hand and insert the new filters - that went fine. I left the outlet open for a while to let the air escape - that went fine.
I also assume - and vaguely remember - that one of the filters gets changed less often than the others. By observing how many of each there are, I suppose I did that correctly.
My question is this: Am I supposed to add air pressure with a pump, or, will the incoming water build up the required pressure in time?

worked well in the beginning, but can't buy again in CA!
We installed the Everpure ROM III reverse-osmosis system when remodelling our kitchen at the end of 2009, and it produced delicious water for about a year, which is about how long this and one of the other three rather expensive cartridges are expected to last. The most expensive cartridge (list price $360) lasts for 2-3 years... how nice, huh?

Once one year had slipped by, however, we've been unable to purchase this particular replacement cartridge because of some "certification" issue within California. Really - NO ONE will sell this item to a California resident. We are now stuck with a $1000 R/O system that now only provides delicious water - if you're a fish!! (...assuming fish like pond water!?) I'm so frustrated with Everpure over this and must now accept that we either replace this entire system or perhaps get used to the taste of chlorine and go back to drinking plain old water with fluoride and all the other junk our city is authorized to send our way...

Beware!!!! unless you wanna pay again for a new one. these sleeves are so sensitive, be very careful when you insert into the sterilizer, and even more careful when you insert the UV lamp into the sleeve itself, the smallest mistake can cost you a new sleeve.

an excellent value
I have three RO systems a kitchen, a main ro for my salt water aquarium and one in my master bathroom. This one I have for my main RO and kitchen both using booster pumps and a piggy back membrane for twice the GPD and half the waste. Filmtec 75 GPD membranes are long lasting high quality membrane and I determine that by using dual TDS meters often yielding tds reading in the 5-7 PPM range. I would only run 2 systems except that my main system has a dual DI canister for aquarium use that demands 0 TDS. DI is not recommend for humans due to no minerals and the body over time changing chemistry no immediate threat just possible long term health issues. In both cases the 75 GPD is an excellent choice high output low TDS if you need lower TDS without the need of a DI stage a 24 GPD or lower GPD would be best.

Always remember to change out the restrictor to the correct size if you are increasing the GPD I have talked to the watts premier technical support and this membrane does...

Seems okay
We use the RO water for our saltwater fish tank and we ordered this new membrane after we discovered phosphates in our RO water. So far the new membrane hasn't solved the problem and we still have quite a bit of phosphates in the output. We are hoping it just needs to be broken in, but so far we are still waiting...
