This is a refurbished unit.
There will be some noise from the boiling water in the tank and from the fans.
The water reservoir may not be BPA free (I don't know if it is or isn't).
There is a carbon filter included with this unit.
The water takes about 3-4 hours to be distilled.
The water tastes great. It took a lot of stuff out of the water. (in the water tank it leaves 8oz of water behind)
The carbon filter replacements are expenisive to get from aquavie.
I did want to say that for a refurbished unit it worked great I have no complaints. This unit exceeded what I was expecting its worked great. However buy this unit then look for waterwise 9000 for replacement carbon filters they are a lot cheaper and work just as well. And the water wise 9000 replacement water reservoir that is bpa free. And you have an even better unit at an awesome price!

Reservoir NOT BPA-free
I wanted to do research on the product before purchasing an expensive device like this. I just called their customer service telephone number (1-800-832-5932). The reservoir for this device is NOT BPA-free, they said they have a work order in process to come out with a BPA-free reservoir. They also said that the leaching of BPA into the product is minimal because 1) the water temperature when it enters the reservoir is "low" 95-100 degrees Fahrenheit and 2) because the water isn't stored for long periods of time in the reservoir (ie. if you drink it doesn't have time to sit and accumulate BPA). I am going to hold off purchasing this item until they come out with the BPA-free reservoir.
AquaVie now available from Westinghouse with BPA Free Container
I own one of the older units manufactured by Regal Ware. It works great but storage container is not BPA Free. I see that there were several other comments from customers wanting this unit with BPA Free storage unit.
I just want you to know that I did some research and found out the this unit is now manufactured by Westinghouse and comes with a BPA Free storage container. It is just now hitting the market. I just purchased a unit and it works even better than my original, comes with a BPA Free Storage Container and was even lower costs ($199.95).
I thought you would like to know.
